Greenwich Beaches

Beaches are open year round, but Park/Beach Passes are required from May 1 to October 31. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day weekend from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Leashed dogs are allowed into parks from December 1st through March 31st.

Greenwich Point

Open all year round, this 147 acre beach has a concession stand and activities include jogging, walking, cycling, nature study, boating, fishing, sailboarding, sun bathing, swimming, and picnicking. At various locations throughout the park one can find benches to sit on for quiet contemplation and enjoyment. Greenwich Point has plenty of parking and is open daily from 6:00 am until sunset. A Greenwich beach card is required between April 1 and November 30.

Byram Beach / Pool

Byram Beach is open daily 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. For those bathers who prefer fresh water, the park has the only public pool in town, located right at the water's edge. Bathhouses are available for those using both beach and pool. For sports enthusiasts, the Park has lighted tennis courts as well as the only lighted ball field in Greenwich.

Great Captain Island

During the summer months, there is a Ferry Service from the landing at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park off Arch Street in central Greenwich. The town-operated ferry's half-hour ride takes you to a 17 acre island with beach, picnic area, and camp site (permit and reservation required for camping). A Greenwich beach card is required. Parking is available across Arch Street.

Island Beach

A twenty-minute ferry ride takes you to this popular beach with picnic area, concession stand, playground and camp area (permit and reservation required for camping). Island Beach, formerly known as Little Captain Island, is situated in Long Island Sound about two miles south of Greenwich Harbor. During the summer months, there is a ferry from the landing at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park off Arch Street in central Greenwich. A Greenwich beach card is required and parking is available across Arch Street.
